If you read this book and don't like spiders, DO NOT google "Huntsman" out of curiosity like I just did.

Scalping plays a prominent role in this book and I couldn't resist Googling for additional information. I was surprised that a man, Robert McGee, actually survived being scalped by the Sioux in 1864 when he was 13. Horrifying.

At just about the halfway point and feel like I already read a multi-generation family saga. Can't believe there is still the last half to go.

Reading on my Kindle, but the Comanche language did not translate properly from the written page which is irritating even though I can't read Comanche in the first place. Just a bunch of question marks.

Yesterday at work I mailed a package to a customer in Cut Bank, MT - a town referenced here. Just looking at the address label gave me flashbacks to some disturbing events in this book.

Finished Part 1: A City Divided -
Fascinating account of Memphis during the early days of Reconstruction. A city on the brink of social upheaval. Rebels, Yankees, Freedmen and Irish immigrants clashing in the streets. So much hatred, violence and bigotry towards others.

Who to believe? What really happened? Thoroughly enjoying this so far and hope it doesn't go downhill at the end...
