i didn’t expect this book to have a sci-fi aspect to it but i actually kinda love it

why are there so many jokes about leigh being spanked as punishment like???

i mean there’s only been two but still

had no idea what to expect but i like this style of writing. leigh’s inner dialogue is so mature and age appropriate for who she is and what she’s gone through which like never happens in books
only compliant is her running away like?? i understand the urgency to leave without a plan but to jump on a moving train…
i can get behind ghosts but not that

okay little confused but i think i get the gist. we FINALLY hear a sorta believable diagnosis from a doctor which makes sense but i think there is more to flynn than that.

otherwise if this is the books big BANG than im not impressed.. then we hear flynn explain frank and his schizophrenic break like WE ARE TODDLERS WHO DIDNT FIGURE IT OUT EARLIER!! to this i wrote in the margins, “we know bozo”

WHY IS THIS BOOK WRITTEN LIKE A TEEN ROMCOM NETFLIX MOVIE??? the lack of research on schizophrenia is so obvious like??? the whole book is so fast paced with shitty depictions of everything that i envision the characters talking like they’re in a comedic remake of a serious story.
also if your schizophrenic and figure that out on your own THE DELUSIONS DONT JUST AUTOMATICALLY DISAPPEAR ENTIRELY

idk what it is but that fact that flynn only owns modern records and pretends like their classics is so funny.
talking like, this record is so special to me and it’s salad days by mac demarco or singing rex orange county then not knowing who tame impala is??????

i can’t say it’s any better but at least it’s picking up. i feel like there’s too many characters to keep track of.
we’ve been introduced to so many people that are only brought up briefly for no particular reason other than to remind you they’re there.
hopefully we actually HEAR from these characters and not just use assumptions based of their loosely described descriptions
