Been all caught up for a while. Just waiting for new updates!

Loving it so far. Wish I didn't have to visit the dark corners of the Internet to scrounge up a digital copy. Foolish publishers.

Abandoning this one. Something about the writing style in the first chapter isn't working for me, and I have too many other sure-thing books waiting to give this one a chance.

Great stuff.

Slow (but enjoyable) going. Video games and other reading steam my time away from this book, but I'm still having fun reading it.

Pacing issues and awkward exposition marred the first half of the book. On to the 2nd!

Full of Banks' awesomely cool big ideas, but wrapped around a plot that meanders and sidesteps and almost falls down. This is one of those books I'm glad to have read, and enjoy having in my head, but found mostly annoying while reading.

Finally picking up (maybe). Such a slow starter, and with no reason to care about what happens to any of the characters. I'm a little interested now.

Grabbed the eBook so I could keep reading after I returned this to the library.

After a couple of hit-and-miss books (and a lot of time not spent reading) it's nice to be back in an Iain M. Banks book. I'm expecting great things from this one, so we'll see if it lives up to my high expectations.

A fairly uneventful first half. I'm interested in learning what's going on in this world, and what happens to its characters. And I do feel some empathy (if not connection) to the protagonist. But nothing drags me back to the story. If it weren't for the little mysteries I'm waiting for answers to, I can't be sure I'd bother finishing it. Still, it's entertaining enough to not feel like a waste of time.

After picking this book up dozens of times at the library and always putting it back down, I got it for my wife and now I'M reading it.

Moving this to the suspended shelf. I'll finish it someday soon.

I've been sitting on this one for over a month. Time to buckle down and make time to enjoy it.
