Monday I fulfill another book promise and get back to work on Blind Side (Dangerous Ground 6) This should be the final book in the series. I commissioned new covers (LOVE THEM) and I'm updating everything and relaunching wide in a few weeks, so I'm excited. And that will be it for what turned out to be a super, super productive year!

Well... It's all over except the shouting. ;-D I just really love this world and these characters. I know it's a change of pace, but we all need a change of pace now and again. Authors too!

ARGH. Well, the bad news is I had to postpone the release of I BURIED A WITCH. The good news is it's only for thirty days--the book will release November 30th. It would have been so much more fun on Halloween, but that's the lumps and bumps of writing for a living. But there is other good news: I'm still planning to release BLIND SIDE at the end of the year.

Perfect reading for this time of year. A collection of ghostly and supernatural stories designed to amuse and send the occasional shiver down your spine before you snap off the light and snuggle under the blankets...

So frustrated with the interruptions and delays on this project. I just want to sink into the world of Cosmo and John and tune out the rest of the world. But unfortunately, that would take magical powers I don't currently have...

Release date is now pushed back to November 30th. :-/

The one bright spot is I BURIED A WITCH. I so love these characters and their on-going story. But ouch what a painful learning curve lies ahead for both John and Cosmo...

Thunder. Enter the three Witches

First Witch
Thrice the brinded cat hath mew'd.
Second Wit—
Yeah, totally kidding about that. There was no second witch. It was one witch, me, and John, my husband and SFPD’s Police Commissioner. Oh, and the scene was the breakfast table at our house on Greenwich Street...

What a pleasure it was to do this project. :-)

So the first installment of Bedknobs and Broomsticks has been cast into the sky and taken wing. Fly well, little book! And now I'm trying to decide whether to dive into Haunted Heart 2 or I Buried a Witch--they release within a couple of weeks of each other, so probably it doesn't make any difference.

There were a few tears, but it was mostly smiles. Nor were all the tears from happiness. Neither Nola nor my mother were crying for joy. In fairness, Maman was not actually crying; it was more of a light mist with a slight chance of thundershowers. Nola was experiencing climate change: a severe downpour with a high probability of freezing temperatures.

Just about ready to head into the home stretch, but wanted to share another snippet...


“Are you not… You’re not ending our engagement?”
“Do you want me to?”
Wordless, I shook my head.
“You’ve got some alarming bad habits, but assuming you’re not convicted of murder, my reasons for wanting to marry you still hold. Like I said, I don’t think life with you will ever get boring.”

WRITING UPDATE

John’s recorded voice tersely instructed me to leave my message.
“Hey,” I said, and my voice wobbled. I steadied it as best I could. “I just wanted to say…I love you. I always will. Meeting you…” I suddenly ran out of air and had to squeeze out the rest of it. “Changed my life. Whatever happens, I’m never going to regret that. I just…thought you should know.”

The mobile game Moments: Choose Your Story FATAL SHADOWS is complete (and completely crazy, but I *think* pretty fun). The Monuments Men Murders is complete and goes live tomorrow. I'm back to work on Mainly by Moonlight now...

He met Sam’s gaze steadily. “Again, I did not mean to compromise you. I’m sorry. I’ve apologized, and if I could undo it, I would. I don’t know what more I can say or do.” It was not easy to ask, but he had to know. “Are we— Are you— Is it over between us? Is that what you want?”

Fear was tiring.

Anger was preferable.

They were both draining.

Not that he was afraid all the time—most days he was too busy to really think about whether he was in danger, but sometimes at night, yes. Less so when he was away from home, which was ironic.

I landed at the bottom of the steps, babbled, “Open the door, I know no more.”
A door opened—child-sized and only the Goddess knew where it led to—I didn’t care. I shoved my way in, wriggled desperately, and pulled my feet through just as the opening snapped shut.
