I'm not a fan of blatant misunderstandings and poor communication skills causing conflict as a narrative tool (perhaps because the sitcoms of my youth overused it). I find myself frustrated over and over again. That said, I'm enjoying the book enough to finish. I like the idea of dragons in this world's mythology.

Spoiler, I guess. There was just a sex scene. it was not very good. boring and long. I've been enjoying the rest of the book. Sort of a Harry Dresden feel, what with everything going wrong for the protagonist. Could have used another draft to tighten some things up in the narrative.
