The book mentioned the southern all stars playing in a convenience store. I have a tape with a couple of their songs that my ex’s mom had gotten in japan in the 90s.

I like that with Murakami’s books I don’t have to worry about what the story is trying to do, I can let myself simply follow along and enjoy it as it comes. This is my first novel of his I’ve read, and while it is a bit “darker” than some of the short stories, it’s literally called after dark soo I’m not complaining lol.

omg again, jeez, this book😩

Oh my… this poor guy

(Cont) people handle grief in different ways and how that changes how they may act in the world. The main character is relatable even though I am not a middle aged man in the least, so that gets a thumbs up from me. Because of the depth of the book I was really able to focus on driving and not get bored as I usually do on these drives, which is odd, but fascinating and very welcome.

Currently breaking down, but this book (audio) kept me calm and focused on the 4.5 hr drive made into 7.5 hrs complete with 30 minutes of digging myself out of a snowbank on a mtn pass and my first time ever using chains (not even a practice prior). Anyways, I am loving the book and likely will finish it tonight if I don’t pass out immediately after eating. I really appreciate the in depth look at how different…

I have copied down so many quotes compared to usual. Characters are flawed in a very human sort of way that I appreciate and book is told from a few different perspectives: Benny (main char.), his mother (Annabelle), and The Book. That’s all for now folks! :D

Pretty sure one of the main characters is autistic :) he tolerates but doesn’t like hugs, has a specific spoon he uses before rinsing it off the carry with him. He’s also sensorily sensitive 😌 he can hear inanimate things speak 🫶
