This is a very good read so far. One comment for the editors. An issue is that occurs several times throughout the book (ereader version at least) a word is started with "para." Example it might read paralike this. I don't know if they are editor's marks that got left in the text or if is was software glitch. Anyway, the point is that it distracts from an otherwise wonderful read.

Bradley's descriptions of MacArthur confirm many of my impressions. My father did not like serving under MacArthur and I can see why in Bradley's words. In many ways he was the American Montgomery more bluster and talk than real action. In many ways insubordinate when dealing with his superiors in the chain of command.

Bradley's book is reinforcing my opinion of Montgomery. He regularly failed to deliver the results he bragged he could. Yet constantly hassled his superiors to let him be in charge of all ground forces in Europe. He should have been relieved after failing at Caen. Certainly after Falaise, Most definitely after his failure in Market Garden.
