Ooo I love the dynamic so far!
I like the build up for Carl and Katie— the slow burn. I’m enjoying the suspense he has her, as well as I, in. I wanna know what this dang secret is, but I also like being kept at the edge of my seat.
The spice has been spicing so far as well! Excited for the ride that is this read!

A little drawn out but the writing is great and I love the banter between the characters. Doesn’t feel filled in with nonsense- everything adds to the plot.
I love Johnny and Shannon- very cute so far. Just finished their car argument scene.

Wait actually what???

Damn man, had me in the first half—- I was really getting into it. Then Astrid lets this man in after walking in on him getting head from another girl, mind you her “evil stepsister”??????

I’m so tired of these weak ass FMCs. Genuinely just so tired.

HA- I should’ve reserved my comments for the ending of the chapter because Locke ain’t any better.

Sissy is icking me out sadly— while Locke doesn’t say he’s an alcoholic or anything something about pushing people to drink after they said they don’t is so gross.

At this point I’m just skimming, the last 18 pages just further drove my point home about the repetitiveness— especially with the smut. I love to read smut but I also think majority of the scenes should enhance the story and add something to the story, which I’m not getting here. I feel unsatisfied. I don’t feel their chemistry, I feel like I’m just being told they have it.

I do enjoy the author’s writing, but a lot of this story feels dragged out and tedious— like it didn’t need to be this long. I feel like I’m being edged with head and fingering, like girl you know I’m here for the penetration. I can’t help but feel a little vexed. Just tell him the truth so we can get on with it. The insta love didn’t really help build the chemistry either.

I feel like Celia has no volition in this book and it’s bumming me out. I loved the first book because she fought back and didn’t let them just bulldoze her— but now she’s just taking it. She has no agency but most importantly no fight for it either. No fire for her business that she supposedly put everything into or even just the life she had before them. It’s kind of rubbing me the wrong way, sigh.

At this point I’m hate reading because Denise is probably one of the worst fictional characters I’ve read.

I enjoy the author’s writing and am actually into the story— but the victim complex Denise has is so fucking exhausting. They’re all enablers. Denise enables her loser boyfriend Matt and Isaac is enabling her. Just a circle of stupid.

I just KNEW Denise was gonna try to act like the thievery wasn’t a big enough deal to get her kicked out— like is you dumb? Isaac was spot on with the thief & enabler comment because at first I was like how would she have known??
But Isaac’s demand is crazy and exploitative— which is exactly what makes it dark so I’m not complaining but it’s crass.

I don’t really dnf books, but I do take breaks- sometimes very very long ones. I’m enjoying the writing, but ⚠️ SPOILER ⚠️ I don’t like Asher, and Zoe sleeping with him— especially before Landon —is a no for me. He should definitely have to work for it. Just doesn’t feel like Zoe is respecting herself. Just my take. But we’ll see if I even care in the future.

Honestly, you lost me at the swine blood scene— it’s not even the painting on the body that bothered me, but putting it inside of you??? Hello??? UTI??? I know this is fiction but please— just no. I don’t know how anyone just skated right on past that.
I got this book for free, so I MIGHT come back to it but I’m so uncomfortable with the hygiene that I can’t keep reading at this time
