I have such a huge theory.

Okay, this is told from three different timelines:

The woman being held captive & being impregnated is Becky Allen & her daughter
The boy & woman are Josie & her son returning to her childhood home
Wylie is somehow intertwined with them each

Halfway through this nail-biting thriller and I'm going to guess what's going to happen. Don't read below if you don't want spoiled if I'm right or not:

I think Faith is behind something to do with Avery's disappearance. I believe she's been aware of her mother's affair with Avery's dad, so she concocted some way to get Avery to either go missing OR killed her accidentally and got her father to help hide the body.

I'm listening to the audiobook and it's a little confusing in the beginning but now that I'm focused on the story, I love Lisbeth Salander

This is...fine(?) Like I feel like it could be 30 pages shorter. At this point, it feels like it's dragging and I kind of just want to be done with it because it's repetitive. I like Annie as a character, and I get she's a robot, but gee Doug is treating her like a human while reminding her she's robot and expecting her to be human. You can't have it both ways my guy. She's a robot. Or you think she's human. Pick.

Almost done and while that WAS a twist... it's still falling slightly short.

I can HEAR Mulder and Scully speaking through the pages and see everything laid out before me. This reads like a new season of The X-Files just dropped. Gray is PHENOMENAL at getting the feel and atmosphere of The X-Files TV Show and I'm having such a hard time separating the writing of the book vs. the writing of the show. Fans rejoice, we have more LEGIT X-Files

Oooooh okay, so I'm seeing how Libby wants me to do this. There's plenty of "horror" books in with "thriller" and "suspense." How do I know? Because the SPOOKS so far are hair-raising

Well. A vampire orgy wasnt on my 2024 bingo card of things I'd read but here we are.

Its fine but I low-key just want to be done with it. If about 100-150 pages was cut, it'd be better. It feels like we're trying to have tension be built and tension is not cooperating.

I'm confused on some parts but it's enjoyable I guess
