This book made me cry. Multiple times.

Chapter 21: I like that the author solved the “strip club” problem right away rather than dragging it out for 100 chapters. I was also right in assuming there’d be a thunder storm that Archer would visit her house to comfort her.

The “bouquet” of Almond Joy candy bars from Archer had my heart 🥰

“She shivered and nearly flinched as he traced the tips of his fingers across her palm, sending cold sparks shouting up her arm.” (It’s not a kiss but it’ll do for me as of right now, but they better kiss by the end of this book!)

“Sometimes everything just turns to crap, and there’s nothing we can do about it. No one’s to blame. Or maybe everyone’s to blame.”

“She flinched as Falconi’s arms wrapped around her shoulders.” (Even if they don’t wind up together Falconi is a good man.)

“The note of command in Falconi’s voice cut through the swan of buzzing in her head. His ice-blue eyes were fixed on her, steady and—in a way—comforting.” (Alan was her safe place but Falconi will help her heal and grow.)

Chapter VIII: “Play a round with me. If I win, you answer my question. If you win, I’ll answer any question you want.” (If Falconi & Kira don’t kiss by the end of this chapter I don’t know what I’m gonna do!)

A May of thick arms black hair covered his chest, and for a moment—just a moment—she imagined running her fingers through it.” (My romantic side kicking in again because I completely ship Kira and Falconi. Praying for a kiss scene at the very least!)

Would I Do The Same: She’s run out of food on her space craft and one of the men in cryo told her to cut off his arm and eat it if she was starving. She refused. She’s dying from starvation and still refuses to eat another person “her mind rebelled against the idea.” What would I do?!

Hypothesis: The alien “suit” is a weapon that the invaders lost a long time ago but now that it’s been activated again they want it back?

Ah Ha Moment: Neghar didn’t start coughing until Kira woke from cryo. Therefore Kira’s upset emotions caused the other half of the alien in Neghar to grow upset. Then the alien came out of her and entered Kira to rejoin. Kira’s unease & fear caused the alien inside her to defend itself & accidentally kill her crewmates.
