The manuscript of John Carter, of West Virginia, is formal yet very much vividly fictional. I love how the foreword, written by Edgar Rice Burroughs, acts as a prologue to this sci-fi martian tale of heroism and courage. I wasn’t expecting it to be particularly interesting to me, since i had seen the movie already, however, it seems like a different story altogether, in a good way!

The Trevallions of England on a journey to the states in search of fortune. Tom, Mary and their 12 year old son Val, along with all the determination, and a small pot of gold to make it big. It was a long, arduous and a pain-staking journey, however, Val had no idea of what kind of pain and loss he was going to suffer next. Parents murdered, all their belongings looted, and a hot burning rage for revenge is ignited.
