This fine novel's publication date is in 24 hours, but I probably won't finish reading (and subsequently reviewing) it until the end of this month or beginning of next. If you're impatient read Adam Kirsch's review on Tablet, which is quite positive and with which so far I agree (though I only read the first four paragraphs of Adam's review which appears to have spoilers).

This author has an amazingly rich vocabulary. I'm learning at least 3 new words per page, which makes it slow going. When I look up the definitions and then reread in context the new (to me) word turns out more often than not to be le mot juste.
