I think I accidentally deleted some friends on here. If you update books and write reviews, but see we are not friends, please send a request!

Unfortunately, because I don't comprehend the setting of the book, I'm going to put this one down. I have a lot of other stuff to read. I think some images or better descriptions would have helped. There are a lot of 4-digit numbers in the book (I think these are road names?), there's a lot of machinery and jobs that I don't understand, and sometimes people are given names who only appear for that one sentence. Whew!

I learned that horses are dumb but trainable. This is a relief.

Reading this for "One Book, One Michiana." Is anyone on my Goodreads even FROM Michiana? I don't think so...

I have to say, I've learned a lot about the hoof. The more I learn, the more I wonder why the hell anyone would ever own a horse for pleasure.

Even though I only read the (very long) prologue, this book just didn't catch me as interesting. She skims over the fact that she's doing drugs and being promiscuous to give reasons for why she needs the church. Then again, though, I don't feel like her descriptions of faith are all that clear, either. It's more like...normal people...with some drugs and sex that we don't get to know a lot about. Therefore, I quit.

Some good advice from Mr. Nick Page: "Walk a mile in someone's shoes before you say they're silly shoes. And even then, you never know when someone might have some sweet sweet insoles in their deep sea diving flippers."

I've read and taught this book before, but now I'm reading 2 chapters each night to my husband before bed, and I'm loving doing it!

Over the last several months I have learned that some books will have, for example, twelve 5-star ratings and then one 1-star rating. Whenever I ask the person who gave the book 1 star what he/she didn't like about it, the individual usually responds they haven't read the book yet and accidentally rated it! It never hurts to ask people to justify their stars!
