I just realized I cannot read this at work because it's so cute and I want to squeal and giggle and I cannot do that!!!

It does remind me of fan fiction - but I am here for it. I mean Roman and his family give me Malfoy vibes all the way! So maybe it's just me.

Libelula - The thing with such short short stories is that I know the formula so I already know what will happen and it's not really fun and I don't get to care for the people either. But they definitely remind me of summer. The stillness, the boredom...

It will probably haunt me, and it's a memoir! But I love how Machado chose to create this memoir. It's so not like a memoir.

Okay, my enthusiasm dimmed out a bit... I mean they are still cute, but are you telling me he knew about her letter for A WHILE NOW AND NEVER SAID ANYTHING? Also I want a bit more world building. I get it, it's a fantasy setting for WWI or whatever, but I still need more, sorry.

I am surprisingly so into this book!! I don't really care for the plot (yet) but I love our main characters and I SHIP THEM!

Svetlana - tried very hard to care and get over some things, it was a tad bit nostalgic and made me miss the sea or the summer nights in my birthtown, spent on the beach, with guys just as annoying as those in the story, but I so did not care about them, only the sand, the water and the stars around me

And the mixed feelings continue - on one hand I feel like it delivers the feeling and message and it gets under my skin, on the other hand... I feel like there is something missing, that it could do more. Be more?

This has got to be the worst written and most ridiculous book ever and I've read alien porn this year ffs! The characters (who are 32 and 25 I reckon) act like 12 y/o!! Everything is ridiculous and I do not like anyone! Plus there's zero chemistry and I am passed the middle mark and they barely even kissed, so it's not even that spicy! No redeemable qualities!

The thing is... the whole black hole gets tiring really fast.

I am still... uncertain. There are things I like but the overall mood and aesthetic just... we don't vibe. I feel like it is somewhat similar to Convenience Store Woman and I loved that book so I don't know why I cannot connect with this one. Both are about expectations, but this one is mainly capitalism.

Annoyed af but I kinda still want to read the next book in this series, damn it!
