It's a lot of time I don't' read a Dirk Pitt's adventure. Speaking of this one, I remember a movie adaptation, named "Raise the Titanic" (1980), with Jason Robards, that I've seen some years later.

It's interesting to see how the reason of Holmes and his deductive ability can face a horror like the one is emerging in this story. :)

After I read so many stories, the plot is often repetitive, but always enjoyable.

The title is intriguing and promises a great adventure! What's this machine? I wonder, Holmes' logic can solve this mystery?

At this point some stories have clues that remembers me others. After so many adventures, it's unavoidable, but they are always good. :)

A good crime story, with some dark humour and intriguing characters. I'm looking forward to see what can go wrong with this easy job. :)

Usually in a case by Ellery queen, there is always a finale stage where he reveals the mystery solution and the murderer. So it was in the adventures of the first part of the book, but now he generally comes to the solution without an audience!
