I enjoy the notion that the only reason Megatron keeps Starscream around is because he doesn't know shit about air combat and needs advice for that

Interesting take on Megatron's origin, fusion of the classic pure evil villain, and the more modern radicalized freedom fighter, wherein his criticisms of Cybertronian society were always valid, but nevertheless, he's always been an arrogant militant cunt.

I reckon that the infinity comics format would be a good fit for primers on character history, especially so for characters like the Scarlet Witch, who have gone through so many small adjustments and retcons over the years.

I like the Nihil now. I enjoy how they can't for the life of them make a choice that won't immediately bite them back in the ass. I 100% see how they died out in the 200 years between this book and the Phantom Menace.

90% of every time a non-jedi character thinks or speaks about the jedi in this novel, they get referred to as "space wizards", and I just think that's funny.

There's an evil gungan in this novel named "Wet Bub". This might actually be peak star wars.

A lot of this novel really doesn't feel like Star Wars, in a good way. Chapter 21 in particular is fucking weird, almost like something I'd sooner expect from Mass Effect.

The Jedi are fucking fodder in this novel dude, they're dying left and right my god

So the Jedi are effectively a crisis response team in this novel, and there's a running theme about how the rich can continue to exploit the poor, even during a crisis? Intriguing stuff for a more recent Star Wars story, I really must reiterate just how surprised I am about this novel's quality.

Kinda shocked at just how solid this is. Introducing an entirely new era of a pre-existing franchise with a novel is a pretty tough sell, but I think I like that I have no visuals here. I picture this as sort of looking like a sci-fi Weimar Germany, and I doubt a movie or show could do that justice. I also enjoy the focus these early chapters place on the no name mooks of the Star Wars universe.
