60s sexism was so crazy even the Cybermen, whom had lost all sense of individuality including gender generations ago, act as if Polly has less value than the men. Anytime something like this happens the Doctor just kinda shakes his head disapprovingly.

Obviously it's because this was written in the 60s, but it is midly jarring that the male staff of the polar base treat Polly with 20th century sexism despite the setting being the year 2000.
