This is just fantastic so far, written with such a warm tone. You can feel his passion in every word. You don't need to be a jazz lover to appreciate his beautiful words and stories. Even words like "motherfucker" (which he uses frequently) are used with a strange, believable eloquence. Can't believe I'm just now reading this; I should've read it years ago...

Once you get past all the self-promotion there's a lot of good info here, even though this is more of an introductory tome to this sort of thing.
