Torn because Isabel is such a frustrating character and I'm not 100% sure I buy into her relationship with Eva, but damn I want to keep reading!

Arnold and Doria are SO funny

Torn on this because the banter and humor is SO good, but the author has repeatedly used language bordering on Asian fetishization to describe Holly. For instance, her hair is described as "oriental" multiple times, she is described as "smelling like jasmine" multiple times, and at one point her mannerisms are compared to Genghis Khan. I want to love this but the repeated use of this language is taking me out.

This is making me want to return to Jawbone by Mónica Ojeda, another book with a woman obsessed with her dead mother!

I’ve only read the first chapter, but the writing has such an addictive quality to it!

My goal is to finish this out of spite. I want all the characters to die.

The characters feel flat to me and I am having issues with the narrative style (in a horror book the narrator should not be telling me things are creepy). However, I am intrigued enough to keep going.
