Kind of long. Also, I have serious problems with the portrayal of how the Jewish second wives treat their husband’s children. Disney stepmom much? More on this later.

Quirky yet endearing. The tone mirrors the ethos of the main character.

Quirky, in a good way. The tone and style of the writing seem to mirror the ethos of the main character.

Quirky characters . It took a while to fall in step with the expressions and spellings, but is well worth it.

Pleasant. I never watched the TV show she was on, but have heard the book was funny and wanted something light.

I knew about the personality of Britt-Marie from Backman's prior book, My Grandmother asked me..... Like the first book, there is a certain amount of patience required to sustain the reader through the first@35 pages . But laying the groundwork has been very important.
I am wondering if the author has had experiences with people who suffer from OCD and/or PTSD.

I almost stopped reading it but am glad to have persisted. This is a reader who did not get what the big deal was about The Hobbit when it was all the rage in high school .

The mythical yarns made my eyes glaze over. Pressing on, I realize that they provide valuable insights into Elsa, Granny, and more characters.

A waste of time. No reason to care about these one dimensional characters, their uninteresting lives in academia or their ramblings about literature .
