New characters being introduced... more work to get engaged in their stories

World building is absolutely insane and, because chapters are split based on perspective, every character is extremely well developed. My favorite thing about the book is being able to reference the map at the front when they talk about different landmarks and roads 🤩🤩🤩it makes everything feel more real

I had been having such a hard time getting through the books I was reading and starting this today I realize I just NEEDED some fantasy. Too much time spent in the real world. I read book one a few months ago and damn I’m excited for this one

I finally know all the characters well enough to REALLY be into the story. It’s hard because there are a solid 15 main characters and they all have both nicknames and long Russian names!!!! AND they all have super specific jobs and connections to one another. But well worth the work to sort them all out, the story is awesome.

Remembering all the references to Russian places/people/culture make some sections of an already complex story almost impossible to follow. Thank god for chapter analysis online! Very excited to see where things go

Possibly the best first 50 pages of a book I’ve ever read

Very very good dialogue — lots of good wit and interesting turns of phrase. Super well written so far

10/10, possibly my favorite Malcom Gladwell book (in competition with “The Tipping Point”). The section on colleges and whether or not the most prestigious school is always the best choice? Fierce.

Pretty disappointed with this book so far... the author does a great job hooking you in (the first line of the book is “72 hours before Nora decided to die she was...”) but it really goes no where from there. Every chapter seems meant to teach you a lesson, but the lessons are so damn predictable it’s just 🙃Don’t even get me started on “The Book of Regrets” or the Librarian herself,,,,
