Finished Notes from Underground. Well-written, of course, and original, but quite painful to read.

So, I like to read introductions to get in the spirit of the book, and glean some additional cultural context. But a few pages into this particular introduction, by Edwidge Danticat, I realized he was going to outline the (entire?) plot. WTF, Edwidge? Seriously, go back to diagramming sentences.

Anyway, Baldwin's novel: brilliant so far. But just wanted to put this out there as a word of warning.
