Finished The Fortune (Blackwater, #5/6). I like how McDowell’s supernaturalism is much more unpredictable, when not downright chaotic as in The Elementals. It makes the horror, when it does surface, all the more uncanny because it appears non-human and alien. I also like how Miriam’s character found her place in this book. I guess that was also (unfortunately?) true of Frances. Next: Rain (Blackwater, #6/6).

Finished The War (Blackwater, #4/6). Really enjoying the turn of events for the Caskeys as time moves on, especially Grace's and Lucille's story arcs. I wonder if Frances' story will come to reveal more of her and Elinor's shared nature. And if it'll have a tragic conclusion, as I suspect. I'm realizing I'll miss being immersed in their world when the book inevitably ends. Next: The Fortune (Blackwater, #5/6).
