Noel and Noël are not the same name. It’s bothering me a lot. This book has me in such a hater mood. I don’t hate the story, I just really feel like the writing is bad, it’s pulling me out of the story so much…and HOW do you write an entire book about Christmas and mistakenly call your female protagonist Noel (no-hl) instead of Noël (no-el)?? Is it supposed to be a near-miss name situ, not quite Christmas?

oh I turned the page and they confirm he is 26. show me a 26 year old and his friends that speak like this??? I was ALSO in my 20s in 2021(younger than 26 though, tbf), and it feels very out of place to me

I keep stopping in disbelief. This book was written in 2021 about adult characters (Nick has been in the military for 8(?) years, so he is at least 26) and they’re still using Snapchat and calling eachother ‘broski’ and talk to each other how a 9 year old imagine adults speak.

I honestly think w/out the ‘hello youths’ writing this would be a good story, the rest of the writing isn’t bad.

ALSO, isn’t ‘Gabby Montoya’ the name of Vanessa Hudgens character in high school musical?

I’m not a big DNFer. I’ll fight my way through the worst books. This is very weak writing at the start, though. I’m sure the story will hook me (I love a silly romance) but this book is written like it is for tweens and the fact they *allegedly* have very steamy sex later is unimaginable to me…feels borderline inappropriate hahahah. I’m looking forward to having my mind changed!:)

I know this sounds annoying but I was kind of hoping she’d die in the same way as her mother, like she pieces it all together and nobody else has a chance to because she’s dead. That is semiiiii happening rn

The whole time I’ve had a nagging feeling that Jack is baaaaaddd. So much in the last chapter has just sealed that for me, it’s coming to fruition and I’m feeling vindicated but not satisfied…life there isn’t another twist I’m just going to feel kind of let down that it was so plain throughout the whole text.

soooo many repeated sentiments, and not in a creative way. I like this book, but how many times will Kira reiterate that her life is stunted?

feeling like our protagonist is a littttlleee delusional, I’m not picking up on flirtatiousness from Jack at all, which leads me to think the scorching judgement is also imagined. I like the parallels between her and the mother. I like the softening up to her grandmother, the breakfast spread broke my heart a little

always reading. not always reviewing.

Too busy to sit down and read properly right now, but I love this book so far.
