1. the chapters are much too short, like the writing is fine (too early to have said anything but it doesn't feel grainy atleast) but like two pages per chapter started feeling like going through shorts, might have to increase font size
2. there's a zizek blurb and you can almost feel him chomping at the bit to do a noble savage bit

maybe the most damning indictment of this is being published under the banner of new left review

Nirvana is 18% done with Reckless Rites: Purim and the Legacy of Jewish Violence (Jews, Christians, and Muslims from the Ancient to the Modern World)
very well sourced, though the reading experience is marred once every couple pages by run on sentences with multiple footnotes making my eyes jump around too much. although I wouldn't have bothered with endnotes at all so i suppose it could've been worse.

unrelated to the book, the first chapter mentions so many sprawling colleges of theology it's no wonder the dark ages happened.

there's a freudian, though not quite, slip right before the introduction which I don't believe this book will be able to surpass

did not know this was a translation and the first thought that came to mind while reading what I have so far was that the tone felt like a stilted translation.

it's absurd that there will never be a novel as good as this
