Kant argues that in 'I' vs. 'it', the 'I' creates 'it' with the help of sensuous receptivity (its 5 senses). Subjective being creates time and space to sensually cognize the outer world, which otherwise also exists beyond time and space, that is, extension in space and existence in time. Why, though? Because every inquiry of unknown has its basis in known, be it science or philosophy. And 'I' & 'it'are the only known
