And so I return to this work funnily related to having just rewatched “the last temptation of christ” on Easter Sunday. Perhaps it’s a mood or a theme, or just the time of year... anyway, the Devil is here and he only tells the truth, but whose truth does he tell?

I’ve been reading this off and on for a couple years, whenever the library will let me take it out for a couple weeks.
Its dense, and full of all sorts of information that I then wind up cross referencing with the HLOTRS books, and so I make slow progress.

I’ve had this book for a long time, paid less then a cup of drip coffee at the corner store for it in iBooks, figured I should maybe finally give it a read…
first impressions: the first person narrative is alright, however am I supposed to like our main character? would i have liked him if I read this when it was first published? a lot happens in 15 years, so… who knows?
anyway, I am enjoying it so far.
