This is a slog and a half, where a linguistic lightness of tough is required (IMO) in a story like this, the narrative is bludgeoned to death under the most pompously self important prose I've ever read. 6% of the way in, and literally only ONE thing has happened, padded out by masses of tangents and pointless musing by the narrator.
