There is some fascinating similarities between the character of Eleanor and Stephen King's Carrie character. I have randomly just read 'Carrie' for the first time ever and can't help but notice some cool little nods to Shirley Jacksons novel, now that i also read this for the first time.
It's all connected man!

Much like King's 'The Stand' it moves at a snails pace, but that isn't an issue when what little is actually going on is so competently and dramatically written. Also, the King reference isn't only with regards to pacing, but also tone and narrative. Yum!
