I feel like I should be getting this story only from Langdon's perspective instead of throwing in the people trying to do the big bad.

OK, in The Lost Symbol you killed Derek Storm, now you've given Jack Ryan amnesia. And for a Florence guy, Langdon should have no trouble thinking Dante when he sees 3 headed Satan with a mnemonic for the seven deadly sins.

So, a ghost is Langdon's adversary?

I should mix Bombay Sapphire with Langdon's vision of hell so I can lose this to amnesia.
