this book is so devastating. it’s like confronting my relationship with my own mother

starting to think im a genuine hater bc tell me why this is such a slog so far!!!

just finished reading my comfort duology 💔 want to sob. rtc of the hidden palace maybe depends we shall see.

this is a warm and fuzzy book that i like to read when i am out on walks and in a pensive mood

why do i always gravitate towards big brain books? can't i just read my silly little magical realism? my cozy little fantasy books? why do i always have to read about the next philosophical hot take TT

found this book from tumblr (tbh that in itself should have been the first red flag)... i thought it was nice and romantic but... it seems insanely pretentious and almost obsessive? idk, maybe that's the point but the male lead is acting really slimy...tbd if i'll read as a hate-read...

HOW. HOW did wrecker manage to do this? HOW did she weave such a story, such a link? HOW after everything,,,, everything is just falling into place as it should. deliberate from the start. this is /beyond/ the simple terms of destiny and fate.

i adore this book sm 😭😭 i’m enjoying it so much!! chava and ahmad are just 💗their friendship 😭 ahmad being a misunderstood prick but finally feeling understood by chava 😭 chava’s supportive friends, the dance scene,, chava enjoying herself 😭 the yearning for freedom, questioning one’s nature 😭i cant

I think I am going to scream... This book is so so so good.

i. the story of ice cream Saleh is so heart breaking :( also, i am convinced that he has a jinni in his head. the poor guy :(
ii. i love wecker's ability to weave the past and the present through flashbacks from major and minor characters. so far, every character, no matter how small is human...important and compelling.

do you ever get upset when you spend x amount of time reading a book and barely recall any of it?

most of the time it's not even a bad book for me!! my brain is just so pea-sized. it's so upsetting :') i read non-fiction books to educate myself and maybe talk with others but as soon as someone asks me what it's about i blank :/

dnf | that was a very jarring prologue. i don't think reading about a tyrannical kid make another kid eat dirt with worms is my cup of tea? the psychological and physical ab*se is a bit much,,, maybe this is just me being sensitive since this book ended up having good reviews but i don't think putting myself through that is worth it,,,

i love how i finished link: my review for the priory of the orange tree before i finished the one for the invisible life of addie la rue. which btw, is still one of the most conflicting reads.
