Well, it’s not my favorite Romanov book I’ve read for sure.

First fiction book to capture my attention in a while.

This book is exceptionally well written and even entertaining in the way it presents the history of Hungary’s occupation by the USSR.

I last read de Tocqueville in my American Political Communication class back in undergrad, and remember not being that moved. Granted, I wasn't particularly into political history/studies at that point and so didn't really engage with his writing. But reading this now as a graduate student writing a diss on politics and philosophy...wow. Amazingly clear writer, and a standout thinker.

If this book keeps up its current quality, this could be an elusive add to my fave books of all time shelf!
