I’ll finish this tomorrow. Some parts are better than others, but most of this was quite corny.

Still pretty “meh”

Fascinating story about a unicorn hunt in the last chapter I read. Would make an excellent 90 minute movie.

Really unimpressed with the writing so far and I don’t expect things to turn around. No offense, but this was written for a fifth grade reading level. There’s absolutely no subtlety and every little thing is spelled out. I hoped to get a new perspective on Batman from reading a graphic novel, ya know, “source material” and all that, but Batman is far more three dimensional on the screen than in these pages.

I love these short chapters

This is my first time reading a graphic novel and it definitely takes some getting used to, but in a fun way.

This book is killing me it’s so slow

Getting pretty boring

Franklin did everything. He learned French, Italian, and Spanish, and started a fire department and a militia all while carrying on a thriving newspaper. What a guy.

Franklin creates his own religion. He profoundly (And rightly) observes that the virtues are joyful, rewarding (if difficult) endeavors in themselves, not simply commands to be followed. Sadly he, like so many others who are interested in morality, never seems to wrestle with the question: “but what about Jesus?”.

Finished part one, the famous “Sword in the Stone”. Excellent stuff.

“If I were made a knight,” said the Wart, staring dreamily into the fire, “I should insist on doing my vigil by myself, as Hob does with his hawks, and I should pray to God to let me encounter all the evil in the world in my own person, so that if I conquered there would be none left, and, if defeated, I would be the one to suffer it.”

One of the things I love about this book is that you get to learn a lot about medieval life and pastimes likes falconry, feasts, jousting, etc. This chapter was about a boat hunt. Fascinating!

Excellent stuff in the last few chapter. Wart (young Arthur) reminds me of a less angsty Harry Potter. Brave, humble, and kind to those who are lesser than he. Can’t wait to keep reading.
