stories of your life (the arrival one) is crazy. hes trying as hard as he can to convey what having non sequential memory would be like while also telling an emotive story. good as hell i read it in one sitting

division by zero was good. here’s my stab at the meaning

so his selfhood is based on his empathy. and her selfhood was based on her understanding of life through mathematics. so when she became entirely disillusioned with that, and her worldview fell apart, his empathy led him to become disillusioned with his own selfhood. he was so empathetic he lost empathy. he divided by 0 and now is undefined?

Understand was basically like if scanners was given an in-depth explanation of how it works from a first person perspective. very cool if maybe unavoidably pretentious

im already building this book up in my head. what i know about it makes me think it could be one of those books i wish i could write. but whenever i build a book up to be exactly what i want it never is
