I listened to the audiobook as I was entering a new managerial role, and I have to say that it came off very authoritarian and bureaucratic. She pointed to studies to back up the claims that reality based leadership led to more productivity than leadership that allowed for emotions from staff - what she referred to as "emotional waste". I don't think this leadership style aligns with my values or with "reality".
