This is SO good!

It reminds me neither of "Se7en" nor of "The Silence of the Lambs" yet but I'm still enjoying it a lot! The recent rat scenes gave me "The Bone Collector" vibes though :D

I'm wondering if this actually counts as a fairytale retelling

The parts about Helena's past and growing up in the wilderness somehow remind me of "The Wolf Road" and this book feels a bit like a "modern" version of Beth Lewis' novel (which was actually set in an apocalyptic future but felt like a western set in the 19th century)

I'm already hooked (and really like the detectives :D)

"Se7en meets The Silence of the Lambs" - this better be good!

I'm a bit surprised I'm still hooked even though there's almost no suspense at all :D This book is definitely not what I had expected

Weniger Träume und Visionen wären wünschenswert aber grundsätzlich ist die Geschichte nicht uninteressant

The father-daughter-relationship in this book is really interesting, on the one hand it's weird that Helena somehow admires her father (who kidnapped and raped her mother before she was born) but reading about how she grew up also makes it surprisingly relatable.

I won't go as far as to say that it's good but it's not as terrible as I had expected :D

Well, at least this definitely already works better for me than the audiobook version

I was super bored by the book when I read it for the first time and the only reason I'm re-reading it is the upcoming Idris Elba movie – let's hope it will be worth it!

First-person narrators using slang are the worst

This is super addictive and disturbing but what's kinda bothering me is that Hunter & Co. are rather wrapping up an already solved case instead of participating in an ongoing investigation with the goal to find a killer.
