The editor failed this author. Chapters 1-2 were a rough start to finally get into the flow of Chapter 3, which was quite enjoyable. Chapters 4-7 should have been cut entirely, and I almost gave up on the book before the worthwhile payoff in Chapter 8. Sort of expecting a lul again in the next few chapters.
