Extremely weird to have a character like Pat in the story, have all that built up, and then just abandon that entire plotline.

Like reading a story that decides to be something entirely else, midway.

I hope this book is accurate. It is Really well written, and read (audio version).

Oh, Terry, how I've missed your writing.
Some times it is nice to read the early work of great writers, to remind yourself they didn't come into the world that day.

It is grating, for a book that masquerades itself as academic literature, to mainly use anecdotal evidence from the authors own experiences, to relay it's message.

This might just be a writing style, but it feels antithetical to what the book tries to be.
