i dess bästa ögonblick är den en bra didaktisk text för ungdomar och obildade. Den är hoppfull men realistisk. Större delen av tiden är den svärmisk, irrationellt rationell, och farlig. Dess budskap riskerar att resa upp en ny avgud i form av experter, till den grad där ifrågasättande omöjliggörs. Därutöver är dess karikatyrer av tidigare perioder väldigt svårsmälta. Den blir mystisk, som sämst.

I detta anklagande för charlatanism av de som ifrågasätter vetenskap och filosofi ser jag en föregångare till den scientism som jag menar är beklagligt vanlig på radikalsidan idag (när den passar dem). I konflikten mellan vetenskap och filosofi ställer sig condorcet synbarligen på vetenskapens sida. Jag tror inte att han hade gjort det om vetenskapen ifrågasatte hans egna heliga kor.
