Conflicted about this book. Just conflicted.

Slowly starting. Political intrigue. Curious to see where this goes, and what happens to Earth. Enjoying the breadth of characters narrating.

Really looking forward to this novel. I’ve been desiring viewpoints from Naomi, Alex, and Amos for awhile now. Especially since Alex and Amos might be my two favorite characters. Intrigued to see how they are fleshed out.

Really enjoying the Basia/Havelock arc. A race against time using science! Holden’s arc makes me wonder if the things that built the rings were killed by murder hornets...

I quite enjoy the use of minor characters from previous books as viewpoint characters in later books.

I really didn’t picture the alien machine in the last book as a bug. Bugs in this book remind me of Ender’s Game. I wonder if that’s where we’re headed....

Did anyone else think that, when Elvi describes Ilus/New Terra as flat like a machine could make it - not organic, that Ilus/New Terra was Cybertron? Because, if the protomolecule turned into the All-Spark, and humanity got caught between the Autobots and Decepticons, that would be cool. Just saying....

Weird feeling of “I know this plot” and “this is new” since watching the TV show first. The plot is feeling like a snowball rolling down a mountain now.

Interesting story without the secondary characters’ stories that the TV show has.

Trying really hard to imagine the protomolecule as brown and not blue. Not sure which way would’ve been better for the show to depict it.

We’re goin’ to Eros. Things are heating up. Is it weird that I had a fond feeling when they got the Rocinante, like and old friend was back?

The prose is tight. No wasted space. It’s surprising how closely the TV show has adhered to the plot developing as I read. Probably why the show has been so good. Let’s see how the story holds up as we move past the inciting incident.

Starting off well, but just starting off. Excited to see how this stacks up to the series.

Finally “revealed” what I suspected about Lamb. But, knowing Abercrombie, it won’t end there. Problem with these tales is, I now want more backstory of how Lamb came to be where he is more than reading the story Abercrombie wrote.

Bummer that Whirrun of Bligh went back to the mud.

Two-thirds done and a solid narrative. Nothing too surprising yet, but Abercrombie likes to save the real plot twists for the last parts of his books.

His use of multiple eyes on both sides of a battle is refreshing, because the previous four books have taken a wider, longer approach, and treated battles as paragraphs to chapters. The complexity shown here and lack of a good vs bad, is enjoyable.

Incredibly sad about Cosca. Perhaps more than any character in the first 3 books.

Starting off better than Book 3 ended. Let’s see where Abercrombie takes this.
