Tim is on page 35 of 448 of In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler's Berlin
The trouble I'm having is that at the end of every paragraph, I spend 10 minutes day-dreaming about how I would be the most Kick-ass, gun-running, people-smuggling, Nazi-licking Ambassador in history. So, it makes the book take longer.

Tim is on page 105 of 460 of This Time Is Different: Eight Centuries of Financial Folly
I read a lot of reviews saying this was an academic slog, but I'm not finding it difficult to read. It is really neat to be reading it while all this Euro-debt business is going on.

I already love this book. It already made me laugh out loud several times. It focuses on personalities and storytelling instead of charts and regulatory statutes, but still teaches a lot about our financial system. It is irreverent and witty.

This is one of the best history books I've ever read. Captures the feel of Texas in the 1940s. Captures what a megalomaniac Johnson was. He chose people not for their competence, but for their potential for slavish devotion.

We are on chapter 6 and it is great. The world they live in is very mysterious. The great thing about reading this out loud is that there is a lot of dialogue and chances to practice crazy voices.

Lyndon Johnson is a seriously damaged individual.

Tim is on page 70 of 672 of The 900 Days: The Siege of Leningrad
This is the third book I've read recently where Hitler's plans were plain as day, but the other powers weren't willing to see it. The first part of the book is devoted to the run-up to war in the middle of June 1941.
