Status Updates From The Recognitions

This year I will exorcise my soul and free it from that demon slab made by a company whose namesake is that which tempted Eve with the sin of overwhelming knowledge that cannot be unknown. I start doing this by reading a thousand-page print book that weighs two and a half pounds.

I have laughed out loud a dozen times already, because on top of everything else this book is hilarious.

God, this is even better than I remembered. If there is a criticism, it would be the well known one that it is perhaps weighed down with both its own erudition and its sadness. If I prefer JR it is probably for that reason.

Why is this sooo funny. I keep laughing out loud. Also gonna take me approx. 3 years to read the whole thing unless I get really smart really quick

A reread actually. I've just started and I can't believe how funny the book is, which is to say I missed the humor the first time through.

Starting my 2026 reread of this a day early as had a few hours of good reading time this morning. As extraordinary as I remember it from my first read almost 15 years ago.
