Breezy, a lot of little joke asides. All through the first chapter I kept thinking, "this reminds me a lot of Player Piano, by Vonnegut." Then one of the characters mentions that it is his favorite book. He goes on to muse how like characters in a novel everyone is. So, yup, it is that kind of book.
