I’m in the mood for some old-school problematic romance. Because that’s what this is. I mean let’s not even get into the xenophobic and racist depictions of people of North African and Middle Eastern descent. But sometimes you want some nostalgia glasses.

As a note, A very good chunk of the beginning of this book focuses on the mother of the heroine and not the heroine herself.

Hmm. So the story starts off in 1790. A character reveals she is armed with a derringer. Yet Henry Deringer, the man who invented this type of pistol, was only four years old in 1790. Hmm.
