Here we go again 😆
Every year or so, I make another Hail Mary at learning Arabic.
Every time, I end up throwing in the towel.
But every time, I also make it just far enough to keep the pipe dream of reading fluency (barely) alive. Without fail, it'd start perking up and wagging its tail after a while.
We'll see how far I get this time 😆

This is actually very comforting:
On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being inept and 10 being able to read literature for pleasure, most students of the language after three or four years of university study would be between 1 and 3 with respect to their ability to read. Of course, this is not true of all students, especially those who go off to Middlebury for intensive study in the summer.
