Kinda badass to write a 700 page book on developments in English merchant capital and their political economy, turn around and declare the origins of capitalism are rooted in agriculture

Brenner sure loves interminable lists of puritan merchants and their inter-familial relationships.

Some would see this book as a dry collection of economic facts hundreds of years old. I see a riveting account of early commercial ventures, investors and merchants fighting over political favors, innovation and disruption of industries. It's like reading Tech Crunch from the 1600s!
