I like this narrator's unabashed & irreverent sexuality, but there's something that's lacking...I just can't put my finger on what's bugging me about the prose.

As usual, I find a decent book, put it down, and then I can't find it. But so far Ninon has refused to enter a nunnery & has fallen in love with a handsome MArquis, Charles, who is a cad of the highest order! After promising to marry, he takes Ninon's virginty and then cruelly informs her she will be his mistress. And of course, she agrees, as she will take Charles any way she can!

And what beautiful philosophy espoused at times : "To live life to the fullest one must be both stoic and Epicurean."

Ninon is a sinner, but that is what a human must be to live. To quote Depeche Mode's One Caress:
"I have to believe that sin can make a better man..."

Who was this Norbert Estey anyway? Can't find any info other than this one book!

There is no man who can resist the beauty of Ninon: young adolescent princes, her father , young Chevaliers and Cardinal Richelieu...and more to come at a convent (I keep sneaking peeks ahead!)

All right, I will continue, now that Ninon is older and the pedo-vibe is gone. But no I wonder where is the LINE here? Will there be one?
