Status Updates From The Night Parade

What a *phenomenal* writing style. The likening of emotions and experiences to yokai is absolutely fascinating.

The book had it's good moments but otherwise fell flat. Because the timeline shifts often, the narrative is fragmented and a lot of things get repeated over and over again. Also the connection to Japanese folklore is very interesting but is not integrated as smoothly as I would like. It feels occasionally like it takes precedent over the story rather than being an aid. I want to give it 3.5 stars.
