Great chapter on the relationship between wealth disparity and political polarization. Ideological polarization trumps economic self-interest in voting behavior. History shows that declines in ideological polarization on issues that have nothing to due with economics (sexuality, religion, race, etc) increases bipartisan cooperation in redistribution/progressive initiatives that increase economic equality.
