A book with such a simple "Evil Count wants to feed small children to a demon in his lodge" plot does not need this many POV switches.

Herr Woodkopf is the MVP of this novel.

Everyone is kind of an idiot in this book, I've noticed.

The racism is period appropriate and pointed out to be, indeed, racist, but still docking points for the g*psy scapegoating.

Here is my evil bootlicking minion, his name is Snively Ratface McWeaselbutt and he'll betray the girls he raised for a nickel.

I'm reserving judgment on Peter until later but boy this little snot is rubbing me the wrong way.

Having immense fun reading this aloud to my daughter (with outrageous accents and a dramatic flair.)
Highly recommended so far.

This is deliciously dark and foreboding. This demon hunter guy is just the kind of soulless monster you'd hope for. Karlstein and all his associates are the perfect variety of sniveling coward that you just love to root against. Nicely built.
